IBM introduced the Selectric typewriter in the 60's. It was remarkable in that the type moved rather than the platen and was state of the art at the time.
The ball is 1 3/8" in diameter
and the whole earring including wire is 2 1/2" long.
They are lighter than they look, but on the heavy side as earrings go.
